Although you have a point with the Hogan stuff, even Hogan stepped out of the title picture for extended periods (Randy Savage and Ultimate Warrior/Sgt Slaughter title reigns come to mind). Hogan didn't need the title, it just made sense to put it on him every so often and it allowed for big storylines to build to when he finally got the title back. I think they need to try not having the belt on Cena or pushing him in the main event of EVERY pay per view (and no I don't count the Orton/Triple H/Punk/Jericho title runs on Raw because for the most part Cena was either injured or fighting for the title - or in Punk's case, upstaging the World Champion). Cena's returns have been to major victories - Royal Rumble and Survivors Series for the World Title - and while he may raise ratings slightly it just seems a bit rushed, even Triple H and Undertaker don't win world titles as soon as they return from injuries, there's a slow build up, which is much more effective for the most part.

And speaking of Cena, the whole work horse thing pisses me off because Matt Hardy, The Miz and John Morrison have a busier schedule than Cena often appearing on 2 or even all 3 of WWE's weekly shows as well as being on the road touring.

The titles would seem much more prestigious if they actually pushed storylines around belts. Now they build fueds and have titles as secondary prizes, even world titles. When Jericho and Michaels competed in the ladder match for the world title at No Mercy, it was more about Michaels hurting Jericho by taking the title rather than Michaels actually wanting to get the title. It is putting the titles on people who either aren't worthy of the title or who do nothing with it and by having the joke of the WWE title belt that looks like a kids toy rather than a trophy, that's what makes the belts mean nothing. The titles should be defended against numerous people since it worked well in the attitude era, but the title still managed to change hands often enough to keep you interested. 9 (Triple H), 10 (JBL, Cena, Batista) and 13 (Cena) month title reigns in the past five years have been boring, those kinds of reigns we do not need, to keep the title scenes feeling exciting and legitimate, there needs to me numerous champions and numerous challengers that revolve in their positions.
