Kind of going off your likes suggestion. I think the ideal thing would be to have a like button on each persons profile page. If someone likes you they can hit it and after you get a certain amount of likes you move up a rank. That way its like the others think you deserve the title. To be a Hall of Famer to me means that you've earned everyones respect(in real life lol).

Or maybe even like the amount of followers/friends you have could determine your rank.

LOL I really don't care that much about this whole thing. Its just a little title that sits under your name. The only reason I see to be upset over ones title would be if that person brags about it.

Good ideas, but honestly for the 1 or 2 idiots that we get on here every once and a while to are just stupid and like to pick on other people, it's really not reworking the whole level thing.  I think that eventually the idiots make one too many mistakes and end up  being declared a troll and getting kicked off anyways.  Until they do, it does make for some entertaining discussions and reading.

My take on this is the fact that it's really not fair to the people who have put a lot of thought into their posts, to have somebody get a status of "icon" for posting drivel.

I enjoy reading quality posts, even if I do not agree with them. We should not reward the people who try to circumvent the requirements (or lack of) just to inflate their egos.

It's really a small problem, but has a lot of people talking.....I would be embarrassed if it we're me. I would much rather be a jobber and respected then to be an Icon and despised.

but I've not been posting so much recently for a few reasons.... one of which is the lack of knowledgable fans... we've got a fair few douchebags whgo post purely to up their stats... so as I posted on the other blog, we should change the criteria.. But how?

Word volume? Stretch out the criteria from one rnk to the other? which would mean most of us would drop a rank or two

I'm all for changin the site and Mark is working on the new theme we've wnated for a while... so we will be giving the place a face lift but it's your site guys... what do you wanna change?

Stretch out the number of posts it takes to achieve a new rank.  Add in a couple of more levels such as intercontinental champion between usa and heavyweight and world champion between heavyweight and icon statuses.  True hall of fame status should perhaps be as high as 2000 or 3000 posts.  Also set something up so that these 4 or 5 word posts do not count.

what about add ons to the site? would you guys be interested in a mini chat in the bottom left corner of the page? so you can chat with other guys who are logged on?

awards like blog of the month?

Blog of the month award would  be cool.  It would definitely generate some more traffic in that section.  It would also be nice to have a more recongnizable who's online feature, so you can see if any of your friends are online much easier.

I can definitely understand where some of you are coming from when discussing the level of intelligence in the posts. I've used this site now for almost three years now. I can't say that I post all the time, but I used to post more often than I do now. The main reason I don't now however is because of all the stupid posts that we have on here. It's not so much the 1 or 2 line posts that bug me, but just stupid things like wishing someone would get injured or something of that nature. It's come to a point where posting on the site is pointless sometimes.

Combination: Make rankings based on the post count, but only those posts that have 15+ (or even 20+) words? And either maintain the rankings system as is, or add TNA titles after HOF... (jk) :D

(Example: This "paragraph" above is 33 words; Aallen1995's post above = 13 words--thus, those types of posts wouldn't qualify for advancements in rank if you used this strategy)

And I like the THUMBS UP/DOWN idea. But maybe per post. Instead of for your profile. And maybe take voting priveleges away from jobbers, cuz then people could just make twenty profiles and vote (you might think this weird, but some people really do have no lives)

Actually, wait, I just had a potentially awesome Idea...

Okay, so... So you would have to change to it so that each member has his/her post-count VISIBLE (for all to see) under his/her site-ranking!

That way, even though people might see that Pocket and I are both HOFers (unless you wind up changing the rankings system, in which case I'd no longer be HOF, which I wouldn't mind), they'll notice that he's on a way higher echelon than I am (or someone else like me), since he's posted almost twice as many posts.

And maybe also have visible your average "words/post" right under the word count.

So somebody like Aallen1995 would show:

Aallen1995
Post Count: 1000
Average Words/Post: 5

and then,

Pocket
Post Count: 3000
Average Words/Post: 58

I don't even care about the ranking system.  We know who the knowledgable ones are and we know who arn't.  Its quite simple.

i just wanted to share a couple of things, first i have been a wrestling fan for almost 30 years, first live match i ever watched was playboy buddy rose fighting rip oliver for the NWA northwest heavy weight championship and i have been hooked on it ever since, i come here to read the news and views of the people on this site that love wrestling as much as i do so i am not sure why a ranking system is even needed, if you are a true fan you are here for the news and views not to get ranked, and the other thing is more of a question, there have now been 3 blogs on this subject and mainly one very annoying person, are you not just feeding his ego and giving him just what he wants and thats attention. if i see his name on a blog i just don't read it, a pretty simple way to put an end to someone like him. eventually he will crawl away and find another site where he gets the attention he is craving, if we ignore him we can get back to the discussions about wrestling that we love.
