Your right... we see laurinaitus in more segments than any one else on raw... same goes for teddy long on smackdown.... but I think it's show the viewers that there "the boss" or there that important....

for example...

in teddys case... he's the face authority figure who will dance around or joke around with everyone, he's the guy who tries to get revenge for what the heel did. he's the guy that people love.

in laurinaitus case... he's the heel authority figure who people hate, he's the guy who tries to get the most popular star mad. he's the guy that everyone loves to hate.

does it work.... of course it does... it's needed... cause lets say that if somebody assaulted teddy long... that person would be the biggest heel in the company and the exact opposite goes for laurinaitus.... these authority figures are supposed to bring the good and bad out of the fans.

should they reduce time for the authority figure.... absolutely.... we dont need to see them talking to the hot diva or talking to a wrestler.

good blog.

The role of the authority figure has passed.  It isn't needed.  It really only worked well when it was a Mcmahaon because they actually run the company.  I hate it when in the opening promo they have John Laurinitus or Teddy Long come out and make a few matches for the evening.  What is the point?  Are we lead to believe that they actually started the show without having any idea who was going to wrestle that night?  On the spot matches aren't a huge problem...it is just something that happens every week with the main eventers.  It is the same crap every week....opening promo...people argue....GM makes the matches.  If all the on screen GM does it\s make the matches(Teddy Long/Anon GM) then there isn't really any point in having one.

I don't know how far they plan to go with the Punk/Laurinitus angle but if it is short lived...then I hope they scrap the "authority figure" from both shows.  It doesn't work anymore....no one can do it as good as Vince did it and mainly because it actually kind of made since with him.
